Meet The Bacteria Farmer

February 10, 2016

Wonder what it actually looks like to farm bacteria? Meet Sarah Richardson.

She works at the Joint Bioenergy Institute, a government lab that's working to make biofuels from plants.

To communicate with cells, Sarah uses a new technology called CRISPR/CAS9. It helps her give instructions to bacteria cells. It's complicated, but this video is a good attempt at how it works.

If you want to learn more about CRISPR, we really recommend the Radiolab episode about it!

What questions did you have about the episode? We'd love to hear them!
