Survey: 60% of Teachers Use Podcasts in the Classroom

This past summer, we surveyed 559 teachers nationwide about their use of podcasts in 3rd to 6th grade classrooms. Here's our first big finding:
🍎 Podcasts are ALREADY a part of the classroom. 🍎
That's based on our top-line findings:
💡 60% of teachers use podcasts in the classroom.
💡 82% listen together as a whole class.
We've known for years that teachers are using podcasts in the classroom. But we'd thought that it was less common. In fact, a majority of teachers have pressed play on a podcast during the school day.
And just like we've learned with family audiences, listening tends to be a group activity in class. That's extremely exciting, because co-listening in classrooms opens up an incredible range of engagement and interaction between students and teachers. (More on that coming soon!)
So when are teachers pressing ▶️ on podcasts? It's during:
✏️ Lesson time: Teachers are integrating podcasts into the curriculum.
🕐 Free choice time: Students are choosing to spend time listening.
🤾♀️ Indoor recess: Podcasts are providing active, screen-free fun.
In short, there are a lot of ways that podcasts are meeting teachers' needs in the classroom. They're flexible, adaptable, and importantly, teachers are finding that students are highly engaged in listening, in a variety of situations.
